What are comprehensive eye exams?

Our comprehensive eye exams do so more than provide you with an updated prescription — though that is an essential component! During a comprehensive eye exam, we’ll take an in-depth look at your eyes’ internal structures, such as your optic nerve and retina, as well as check your visual acuity. We perform all our exams using our advanced technology, so you’ll never have to worry that we missed anything. To make the most out of our eye exams, we also recommend getting your eyes checked thoroughly once a year to allow us to track your eye health over time.

WHY Eye exams are important

Your eyes constantly change as you age. Attending regular comprehensive eye exams allows us to catch eye diseases early — and the sooner we find these diseases, the sooner we can start you on a sight-saving treatment plan. Our technology lets us spot even the most minute markers of eye disease, and our doctors can use what they find to create customized treatment plans to save your vision. Regular eye exams also ensure your prescription is up-to-date and that you’re getting the best vision correction possible!

Specialized Exams

If a regular comprehensive eye exam won’t meet all your needs, potentially due to your situation or age, we also offer specialized eye exams. These include contact lens exams, which require a different vision prescription from glasses; pediatric eye exams, which check for age-related conditions in a kid-friendly environment; and emergency eye care. When it comes to eye emergencies, our priority is preserving your eye health and sight, so these exams can vary based on whether you’ve incurred trauma, chemical exposure, or are having vision issues.

State of the art diognostic technology

State-of-the-Art Diagnostics at Lake Havasu Family Eyecare

We’re proud to utilize some of the best technology in the industry to provide our patients with the world-class care they deserve. Our equipment includes our Optos retinal imager, which allows us to view your retina without dilating your pupils. We also have a pigment measure, which helps determine your risk of developing macular degeneration, one of the leading causes of vision loss in old age. We also use Optos retinal imaging to scan the retina, and Diopsys® nerve conduction tests to check for glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetes.
